Positively petrifying things to do with little Londoners for Halloween 2024

  1. Hobbleween arrives at Hobbledown Epsom and Heath on 12th-13th, 19th-20th and 26th October to 3rd November. Put on your creepiest costume and come ready to take part in some scare-tastic fun, including a fancy dress monsters’ ball and bug brunch. Included in admission.
  2. Aldenham Country Park’s Spookfest is back from 12th October to 3rd November, with highlights including the Aldenham Mausoleum and Spooky Shack, Pumpkin Bingo, Pumpkin Picking and Carving and a Horrid Hay Tractor Ride. Included in admission/some activities extra.
  3. Halloween at Kew runs from 18th October to 3rd November. Created by the producers of Christmas at Kew, the trail will see the gardens transform into an illuminated haunted woods teeming with creepy neon cobwebs, ghastly ghouls and glowing pumpkins. Paid.
  4. Head to London Zoo from 18th October to 3rd November for Halloween Family Fun. Highlights will include an Extinct Species Graveyard, Pumpkin Patch, Race against Extinction, Spooky Crafts and Spooky Animal Talks. Included in admission.
  5. Room on the Broom will be flying into Kew from 19th October to 3rd November. Explore the winding paths of Kew as you spot familiar characters from the story. Engage with playful installations and family activities that bring the book to life. Included in admission.
  6. Gootopia’s Frankenslime sessions run from 19th October to 3rd November. Kids will discover gruesome slime facts, create ghoulish glow-in-the-dark slime, adding spooky decorations and scents like toffee apple and candyfloss; and work together to create giant slime. Paid.
  7. Willows Activity Farm’s Pumpkin Festival returns from the 19th-20th and 25th-31st. There will be 1,000s of pumpkins for children to pick, as well as a Pumpkin Hunt and the Gourds Grotto where you can take photos with a host of gourds, squashes and pumpkin scenes. Paid.
  8. Halloween Bounce House will be at Big Penny Social from 21st-25th. Then, on the 26th, the venue will host A Halloween Bees Knees-Up, featuring theatre, live music, games, crafts, puppets, dancing, sing-a-longs, special guests, movement, storytelling and a fashion show. Paid.
  9. Head to High Street Kensington from the 25th-31st for loads of frighteningly free fun. Take part in a Haunted Halloween Hunt all week, get stuck into Halloween at the Farmers Market on the 27th, then join the celebrations in Kensington’s Hallows’ Eve on the 31st. Free.
  10. Halloween comes to Hampton Court Palace from 26th October to 3rd November. Lose yourself in atmospheric projections and creepy sound effects as the palace is transformed by magical spells. Work with HCP’s ghost hunters to seek out all of the palace’s spirits. Included in admission.
  11. Halloween Half Term at Eltham Palace runs from 26th October to 3rd November. Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out. Lady Harrington Harrington is back with a new ghost to find, plus there’ll be spooky stories and creepy clues to solve. Included in admission.
  12. Halloween at the Tower of London runs from 26th October to 3rd November. Pick up a trail and keep track of the ghosts that you spot on your visit. As you walk in the footsteps of the tower’s infamous ghosts, spooky installations and surprises await. Included in admission.
  13. There’s lots on for families at Chelsea Physic Garden this Halloween, including Stories from the Enchanted Cottage from 27th-31st, pumpkin painting on the 28th and 30th, cookie decorating on the 29th and finally a costume party with mask making on the 31st. Paid.
  14. The Fly-Kid Family Rave Halloween Party is happening on the 27th. Expect hiphop, RnB, soul and pop hits from BBC 1xtra DJ Emily Rawson, plus the flyest face painting, street-dance lessons, hiphop props, dress-up, games and more. Paid.
  15. Dabbers Hackney will host special Halloween editions of its Family Brunch Bingo on the 27th and 31st. The theme will be iconic movie villains and antiheroes, with an award for best costume, haunting bingo calls, eccentric prizes and freaky disco balls. Paid.
  16. Family Fun: Halloween at Sambourne House will take place on 28th October. Designed for ages 5-10, the event will feature a variety of drop-in craft activities and a chance to follow a spooky trail around the house – the Victorian family home of the Sambournes. Paid.
  17. Christina Rose Brown is running a Spooky Paper Bag Lanterns workshop at the Fitzrovia Chapel on the 28th. Use paper bags and tissue paper to create your own light-up Halloween lanterns to take away and decorate your home. Paid.
  18. Discovery Days: Hair Raising Halloween is back in Hyde Park from 29th-31st. Investigate ‘feely boxes’ in the Witches’ Den; explore a hair-raising nature trail, discovering fascinating facts along the way; learn about the bats in The Royal Parks and listen to a spooky story. Free.
  19. The Foundling Museum is hosting not one but four Halloween workshops this half term. Choose from Haunted House Lanterns on the 29th, Spooky Shadow Animation on the 30th, Moving Monsters on the 31st or Halloween Hand Puppets on the 1st. Paid.
  20. Holiday to Space: Halloween for 3-6s will be at the Royal Observatory on the 31st. Don your best fancy dress and join Ted and Plant on an adventure across the Solar System as they find the best place to go on holiday. Includes themed workshop led by astronomers. Paid.
  21. Lauderdale House’s Halloween Spooky Walks are back on the 31st. Head down for an immersive, circus-themed theatrical adventure where you’ll gather objects from a host of creepy characters to protect your group against The Darkness. Paid.
  22. Woolwich Works is hosting Halloween Creation Stations with Christina Rose Brown on the 31st. Make your own skeleton puppet, inspired by Funny Bones; create a mini broomstick, inspired by Room on the Broom; or design a monster, inspired by Not Now Bernard. Free.
  23. Head to Chiswick House and Gardens on the 2nd of November for Halloween Spooktacular – Family Rave with Big Fish Little Fish. Resident DJs Baker & Beale will be spinning club classics , plus there’ll be foam, bubbles balloons, and crafts from Nifty Natty. Paid.
