Post sponsored by The Francis Crick Institute

Fledgling physicist in the family? Mark your calendar for the 21st of June, when the Francis Crick Institute in Kings Cross will host this year’s edition of its popular DISCOVERY DAY. For the uninitiated, this inspiring event offers a jam-packed lineup of pop-up science-themed activities for ages 6-11 and their families – all completely FREE!

Running from 11am-4pm, the hands-on science spectacular will offer budding boffins the chance to: become a team of motor neurons and work together to send a signal in the SUPER SIGNALLERS challenge, cook up a stem-cell POTION in the lab, discover their immune-cell SUPERPOWER, interview REAL SCIENTISTS, and lots more.

Discovery Day is a drop-in event, with no need to book ahead. Outdoor activities will be available throughout the day (11am-4pm), while anyone wishing to join in with the indoor activities should choose one of three timed slots (11am-12.30pm, 1-2.30pm or 3-4.30pm) each one ending with a live science show that’s guaranteed to blow their minds.

Have a child who is autistic, neurodivergent, has sensory needs or would benefit from a quieter, calmer environment? The Crick will also be running a relaxed session from 9.30-10.30, before the main event opens to the public.
