30+ awesome things to do in London with kids during Easter/April 2026

This month, follow egg, bunny and elephant trails across London; help create a collaborative installation at Tate Modern; and immerse yourself in a jurassic jungle at the Brunswick Centre.

  1. Head to the Southbank Centre for Easter fun for all the family, including a chance to visit Chiharu Shiota: Threads of Life and Yin Xiuzhen: Heart to Heart, which are showing concurrently at the Hayward Gallery until 3rd May.   2. Crystal Palace Park playground is set to open from the 20th. Drawing inspiration from the park’s beloved dinosaur sculptures, the playground will feature skeleton-inspired climbing structures, a sandpit shaped like a giant dinosaur footprint a play trail with balancing poles and lots more. Free.
  3. The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt is back at Hampton Court Palace from 21st March to 12th April. Follow the trail and match the names of influential characters to the red ribbons adorning the Lindt Gold Bunny statues scattered around the palace grounds, then collect a small chocolate prize at the end. Free with paid admission.
  4. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Trail will be at Walthamstow Wetlands from 21st March to 30th June. Children aged 8 and under are invited to discover a variety of illustrated animals nestled amongst the blooming habitats of the reserve, identify the letter on each one and complete the secret word in the activity booklet. Paid.
  5. Battersea Power Station is the place to be this Easter, with family-friendly highlights including bumper cars, bungee trampolines, an elephant art trail from 26th March to 26th April, a Macaroni Penguin egg hunt on the 3rd, and Colour, Doodle, Draw with Anna Bruder from 7th-12th. Paid/free.
  6. Head to London Museum Docklands from 28th March to 12th April for a variety of Easter workshops, including making paper food, tea towel printing with Christina Rose Brown, creating your own packaging, painting with food with Ella Philips and making fruity loaves with Jay M. Patel. Free.
  7. Easter Eggsplorers is back at Hobbledown Heath from 28th March to 12th April. In addition to the usual Hobbledown activities and attractions, expect a giant Easter egg trail, a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, Easter entertainment with the Hobblers and lots more Easter-inspired activities. Included with paid admission.
  8. There’s loads on at Two Temple Place for families this holiday, including birdhouse building on 28th March, matchbox miniatures on the 31st, watercolour prints on 1st April, abstract clay figure making on 2nd April, charcoal drawing on the10th, storytime on the11th and upside-down drawing on the 12th. Pay what you can.
  9. UNIQLO Tate Play, Linda Bell: Loop. Swing. Shake. Remake. will be running in Tate Modern’s Tanks from 28th March to 12th April. View and interact with Linda’s huge, interactive sculptures, adding to the installation by wrapping it with everyday, sensory materials to create your own layered sculptures. Free.
  10. London Zoo’s Zoonormous Egg Hunt! is back from 28th March to 12th April. Search high and low for six giant Easter eggs hidden around the grounds. Each egg reveals a secret letter, encouraging curious minds to work together to uncover the code hidden throughout the Zoo. Included with paid admission.
  11. Easter Quest at Eltham Palace and Gardens returns from 28th March to 19th April. Embark on a fun-filled adventure quest around the house and gardens. Follow the Easter trail, hunt for eggs and answer questions along the way to earn a delicious chocolate reward. Paid, in addition to paid admission.
  12. Head to Orleans Gallery from 28th March to 31st August for All The Things: Exploring Play and Imagination Across Generations. Explore the exhibition in your own way slowly, boldly,  quietly or playfully. Follow your curiosity, notice what catches your eye and let imagination guide you. Free.
  13. Easter Holidays at the National Maritime Museum runs from 29th March to 12th April. Children of all ages can get creative and make Andy Warhol-inspired collages, recipe books, confectionary boxes, tropical fruit prints, Windrush-inspired food plates, paper lamps and loads more. Free.
  14. Easter Holidays at V&A South Kensington runs from 30th March to 2nd April. Choose from Design Baby for 0-3s, drop-in design sessions for over-5s focussing on weaving and toy design, and pop-up performances of Anansi and the Lost Sun and Build a Story. Free.
  15. Museum of the Home’s Discovery Garden Family Day is on 31st March. Explore the new Discovery Garden – an outdoor space for permaculture and play – and join in with plant and craft activities with the Hackney Play Association, and a medicinal and edible plant workshop with Yoni Carnice. Free.
  16. There’s lots on for families at the Foundling Museum this holiday, including Musical Printmaking on 31st March and Musical Mobiles on 3rd April, Hetty Feather Day on the 11th featuring a talk and signing with Jacqueline Wilson and an art workshop, and Family Concert: Marmalade & Masquerades on the 18th. Paid.
  17. Macaroni Penguin is opening its Wembley Park location this month. Located next to Tian Tian Market and sharing a venue with a new branch of Buy & Bite Japanese Omurice, the brand new play cafe will be aimed at ages 0-6 and feature the same amazing play architecture used in their three south London sites. Entry paid.
  18. Morden Hall Park is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt from 1st-6th. Take part in classic activities such as egg-and-spoon races, croquet, a beanbag toss and a coconut shy as you explore the park. Complete the trail together and enjoy a chocolate egg reward at the finish. Paid.
  19. Big Penny Social has lots lined up this Easter, including Kids’ Cooking Classes on the 1st, an Easter Family Disco featuring bubbles, interactive games, prizes and singalongs on the 5th, and Bounce House from 6th-10th, including an autism-friendly relaxed session on the 8th. Paid.
  20. Head to Chelsea Physic Garden from 3rd-6th for Easter Egg Trail: the Spring Sprites. Follow the trail, search for the eggs and discover the places where the Sprites live. Along the way, complete small tasks and playful challenges to make a special potion to help awaken the Sprites. Paid, in addition to paid admission.
  21. Croydon’s Turf Projects will play host to Family Art Fun Day: Build Your Own Cocoon on the 4th. Inspired by Meera Shakti Osbourne’s cocoon in Turf’s Tending exhibition, make your own foldable space of safety using fabric and natural dyes that make you feel at rest. Free.
  22. Easter at Camden Market is on 4th-5th. Expect entertainment from Blossom the Lion and Sita the circus acrobat, explore an Easter trail of 3D artworks, get crafty at the Bonnets and Bunnies workshop, plant spring seeds and bulbs, have your face painted, and join the Cheeky Meeky Family Rave. Free.
  23. RIBA is hosting Floaty Boaty Buildings at the Canal Museum on the 7th. Settle in for a day of model making, drawing inspiration from the museum around you to create your very own house on water. Will you use stilts? How will you make it waterproof? And most importantly, will it float? Included in paid admission.
  24. The National Gallery’s Roden Centre is hosting Easter Holidays Art Studio Workshops from 7th-9th. Create a characterful moving 2D puppet with illustrator/educator William Goldsmith. Construct the statuesque form of a horse from a series of simple shapes and add colour with a range of drawing materials. Free.
  25. British Museum is hosting a Springtime Samurai festival from 7th-10th. Join a variety of artists for hands-on creative workshops including origami Samurai helmet making, samurai design, and a special music and dance performance from Frank Chickens, inspired by the current Samurai exhibition. Free.
  26. Head to the Horniman on the 8th for I Can’t Sleep: Storytelling and Craft. Author-illustrator Emma Farrarons introduces brothers Magnus and Kasper during a special reading of her new book aimed at 3-7s, followed by a chance to make your own matchbox bed out of found objects and add a miniature book. Paid.
  27. Leighton House will host Family Fun: Food and Nature on the 18th. Designed for ages 5-10, this workshop is designed to teach children and their parents what types, how much and where our food is grown around the world, as well as recognising seasonal food and understanding ‘food miles’. Paid.
  28. Jurassic Jungle comes to the Brunswick Centre on the 18th. Come face-to-face with roaming dinosaurs as they prowl the centre throughout the day. Meet a mighty T-Rex, marvel at a towering Brontosaurus and say hello to adorable dino-babies, and don’t miss two spectacular dino shows, packed with roarsome moments. Free.
  29. V&A East is scheduled to open in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from the 18th. The museum will feature two free permanent Why We Make galleries with more than 500 objects, while its first temporary exhibition, The Music is Black: A British Story, will explore 125 years of Black music-making in Britain. Free.
  30. Polka is the place to be with babies this month. Laaaunch! for ages 0-12 months runs from 22nd-26th, featuring a comfortable set that babies are free to explore. Then, from 29th April to 3rd May, babies aged 0-18 months are invited to enjoy A Tale of Us, featuring a guided stay-and-play session at the end. Paid.
  31. David Bowie: You’re Not Alone will be at Lightroom from 22nd April to 10th October. Through iconic performances, rarely seen interviews and never-before-exhibited material, discover the creative mind, spirit and soul of one of the world’s greatest, most visionary artists. Paid.
